Advanced Placement

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a cooperative educational endeavor with the College Board. This national program makes available to high school students the opportunity to pursue college-level studies while they are still in high school. Upon passing rigorous exams in May, students may be eligible for college credit. Barbara Goleman Senior High School offers a number of courses in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign languages, and fine arts. Enrollment is based on past performance in honors classes, counselor/teacher recommendations, writing samples, and interviews. All AP courses require teacher recommendations.

GUIDELINES THAT MUST BE MET BY THE STUDENT:
1. Teacher recommendation in the subject area
2. Minimum “B” average earned in the subject during the current year
3. Maximum of four honors/AP classes per year
4. Limited absences in the current school year (Strict attendance is required in these classes due to the nature of the course work.)
